Film ini dibuat didasarkan pada sebuah novel yang ditulis oleh Allison Burnett berjudul Undiscovered Girl yang merupakan sutradara film ini sendiri. Film ini akan menceritakan tentang kisah seorang wanita muda bernama Katie kampenfeld (Britt Robertson), yang akan mengambil cuti kuliah selama 1 tahun untuk menelusuri jati dirinya.

Selama cuti, Katie mencatat segala sesuatunya di dalam sebuah blog anonim miliknya. Di blog itu, ia menuangkan seluruh rahasia terdalamnya. Tetapi pada akhirnya, kisah Katie di blog mulai bocor, dan potongan gelap masa lalunya ikut muncul.
